Roc with giant Stone

The greatest tale narrated about Rocs is with no doubt that of the great siege of Trillias Sal’um.

As most stories go, this also begins with a Soultanos, Arradyash al’lahad the Merciful. When he was young, the Soultanos had been brought by some peasants a baby Roc as a gift, found on a mountain nearby. A very rare gift for it was still alive and strong. To everyone’s surprise, he hastily told them to put it back where they found it and even released 50 sheep on these mountains. No one spoke and the Soultanos was named The Merciful. After that, all was forgotten and years passed.

Ah yes, years passed and war came. The jungle always fought the desert and vice versa. The Soultanos had left some of his troops behind but still didn’t make it in time to save the border city. The Dracantropii had taken it over. The city of Trillias Sal’um had good defenses, thick walls and stood at a very strategic point of the Araves Empire. He now had but a few days left, before the rest of his tailed enemies showed up. The Dracantropii Kingdoms had been growing stronger, and now dared invade once again their Lands. If he didn’t break them before they joined forces, the entire Araves race would’ve been in grave danger, allowing a permanent spike on their back, an open door to their Lands for anyone to enter. Knowing he didn’t have time to build siege machines, nor wait for his cannons to reach him, he asked his Sorcerers for consultation. They closed themselves in a tent, surrounded by the Royal Guard. Whispers and strange sounds came out of the tent during that night, along with pigeons that flew in all directions. By the following morning at dawn and out of nowhere, dozens of Rocs were spotted in the sky carrying all types of fishing boats, rocks, rooftops, statues. They slammed them from high above on the walls, carried parts of the defenses away tearing up entire blocks, and attacked the defenders atop. Some of these giant birds received so many hits, they fall down never to rise again. By the time the rampage stopped, the Dracantropii realized there was an opening at the walls so big, that alllowed the entire army of the Soultanos with him in front to charge them almost in ecstasy. There would’ve been no mercy from Arradyash al’lahad the Merciful that day. Resistance from the Dracantropii was heroic but futile and an eternal bond between the Rocs and the Soultanos was forged from that day forward. When the elite of the royal bloodline calls for them, they many times aid him.
