“In the land where true beasts roam, we are more beasts than them all…”

Shieldmaiden Infantry/Rangers (Krumvaal® Northern Alliance)

The freezing wind blew straight in their faces. Their braided hair danced wildly around their hoods, while the icy temperature of the ground beneath their feet tried hopelessly to penetrate their leather boots. Regardless of what was happening around them though, the Shieldmaiden army stood firm. This second civil war against the fierce Warmaiden hordes had taken its toll and both sides had sustained substantial losses.

Among their ranks, the Shieldlord Anya the Beheader stood silent. She had sent word to their Queen that they would not be able to hold the Silent Pass for much longer; they had been dragged into a continuous war of attrition and the Warmaidens outnumbered them. She had been promised reinforcements. Should her Shieldmaiden Army lose a single battle, there would have been no refuge for them; on top of that, their territory would become defenceless from the North as their entire forces where concentrated to the East.

Reinforcements did indeed arrive. For... the Warmaidens! One of the fierce Wolf Warden clans had joined ranks with their enemy sisters and had gladly taken over the center of their army. Anya stood expressionless while she sensed the rest of her army worried.

"The time has come my Sisters!" she shouted to them. "The time that fate has turned her back on us. You know, fate is an old witch that sometimes amuses herself by toying with us." Anya looked at them all, turning her head from left to right, slowly.
"That bitch though is about to learn not to toy with us! Prepare yourselves and show no mercy! Death to them all! Chaaaarge!!!"

The Shieldlord Anya never spoke another word. Anything else that came out of her mouth were screams and shouts and grunts, swaying her axe with deadly skill.  The wolf warden in front of her was too much for her to handle though; her last grunt gave place to blood as the mercenary's huge two-handed sword ripped her life away...
